Written by the 8th century Hindu saint Adi Shankara, Vivekachudamani is the original “handbook to higher consciousness.” It exhaustively sets out the spiritual path in a linear sequence of practices, informed by a thorough understanding of theory. It has been said that if one diligently practices all that is in Vivekachudamani, on can guarantee Self Realization. Jim’s teacher, Swami Chinmayananda used to say that only two books were essential for the study and practice of Adwaita Vedanta – the Bhagavad Gita and Vivekachudamani.
